AIR & SEA SITUATION – WEEK 16 (16.04.2018 – 22.04.2018) – INDIA

BANGALORE– AIR  

  • Heavy Back log at Airport, due to Peak Season WY & EK are only accepting Perishable and Express rate cargo for the movement.
  • EY withdraw their Freighter from BLR
  • QR has been reduce the freighter from two to one per week now.
  • Most of the Airlines increased the rates drastically from the beginning of the year for upcoming season.
  • Generally, Cargo is taking 5 to 6 days minimum transit for Europe. Most of the Air Lines are not giving any commitment for ETA under normal rates.
  • Mostly Airlines are closing their flights 4 or 5 days prior flight departure date so need to give the booking to Airline one-week advance in order to secure the space/booking confirmation.

CHENNAI: –

  • Sea Export
    • Normal
  • Sea Import
    • Sea Import having little congestion at Port to move out the container, it takes 2 to 3 days’ time to move the container to CFS.
  • AIR
    • Chennai Airport is facing the peak season issue
    • Most of the Airlines increased the rates drastically from 1st April, 18 for upcoming season.
    • Airport Operation is in very pathetic situation.
    • EMIRATES Shifted their operation handling from Authority shed to Air India shed, so now a days heavy rush at Air India shed, because very small space in Air India shed compare to Authority shed, so vehicle are waiting more than 4 to 5 hrs. for offloading the cargo.
    • Chennai Air India shed has been heavy congestion due to Emirates has been change their Authority shed to air India shed so taking 3-4 days for clearance.
    • Air India is accepting booking for Europe only for small shipment, above 500 KG shipment space is available only 2 to 3 days later after booking the shipment
    • EY reduce their freighter from 3 to 2 (Mon & Wed) only.
    • SQ has been canceled their SUNDAY (15.04.18) Freighter.

    • Calcutta Sea Port is facing lots of problem in regards of sailing by feeder vessel.
    • Since last 2-3 weeks, all feeder vessel is getting delayed by one week minimum from the given ETD.

    • Since last 2-3 weeks, all feeder vessel are getting delayed by one week minimum from the given ETD.
  • Air Port
    • All the Air Lines are going full and most of the airlines are accepting booking under express rates for immediate connection. If it is normal rate shipment space will get after 4 to 5 days after booking based on space available, Air Lines are giving priority to Express Cargo.

DELHI: –

  • SEA IMPORT – FROM NHAVA SHEVA PORT IMPORT
    • FCL- containers taking 8-10 days to rail out for import shipments.
    • LCL shipments taking 15-18 days to rail out for import shipments after reworking.
    • FROM MUNDRA: Containers are taking 15-20 days to rail out for import shipments to TKD Delhi and 5-6 days to rail out for import shipments to Garhi Harsu [GDL]. (550 container pendency at port)
    • FROM PIPAVAV – Containers are taking 15-20 days to rail out for import shipments to TKD DELHI (450 container pendency at port)
    • FROM PIPAVAV – Containers are taking 25-30 days to rail out for import shipments to ICD PPG (weekly one train DP world and pendency same)
  • AIR EXPORT
    • Most of the Airlines increased the rates drastically from the beginning of the year for upcoming season.
    • Most of the Airlines having heavy backlog and accepting booking well in advance with in delayed transit.
    • General Cargo is taking 5 to 6 days minimum transit for Europe/US.
    • Air Lines are not giving any commitment for ETA under General Air Rates.
    • Mostly Airlines are closing the flights-3-4 day’s prior flight departing date.
  • AIR IMPORT
    • Normal

KANPUR: –

  • SEA IMPORT – FROM NHAVA SHEVA PORT:
    • FCL- Containers taking 9-10 days to rail out for import shipments.
    • LCL shipments taking 20-25 days to rail out for import shipments after reworking.
    • FROM MUNDRA: Containers are taking 15-20 days to rail out for import shipments to Kanpur

BANGLADESH: –
Chittagong Sea Port Situation

  • Berthing delays at different terminals:
    • There are 20 container vessels are waiting at the anchorage till 9th April 2018, Berth is allocated on FIFO basis.
    • Waiting time at outer anchorage has gone up from last week for deep draught vessel. Currently 8-9 days for gearless vessel; 4-5 days for deep draught & shallow draught vessels.
    • High Yard Density in range of 120%- 125% mainly due to the Import tendency in the terminal. Which is adversely impacting vessel productivity for laden operations.
  • Outlook:
    • With monsoon and Ramadan approaching, we are anticipating CY congestion might get aggravated which may have a chain effect on operations and feeder schedule.

DHAKA Air

  • Airport Situation update
    • Still DAC Airport is facing backlog issue. In coming flow of cargo is much higher than outgoing cargo.
    • Most of the airlines are booked next 5-6 Days.
    • Most of the Airlines are increasing rates every week due to cargo overflow.

Sri Lanka : –

Sea Port Situation

  • Sea Exports
    • Exports has comparatively increased due to the seasonal occasion.
    • Rates of shipping Lines varies time to time
  • Sea Imports
    Imports to Colombo has increased due to the seasonal occasion & main transit port for so many Lines.
  • Air Situations
    • Due to the seasonal occasion, there is a space issue from Colombo Airport.
    • Most of the Airlines having heavy backlog and accepting booking 3-4 days well in advance
    • Space is really tight Ex Colombo and most of the shipments are offloading Ex Colombo couple of times..
  • Remarks
    New Customs Regulations have been imposed in Sri Lanka for late manifesting.kindly send all relevant documents directly to “Importdocs@freight-links.com” 72hrs prior to vessel arrival in Colombo for any Ocean Freight shipments to Colombo (FCL , LCL or T/S). If not, any penalty charges (US$ 1,000 – US$ 5,000) imposed by SL Customs will be billed back to the origin agent.

Nepal : –

  • Sea Port Situation
    • Shipments to Nepal routing thru Kolkata Sea Port India. There is currently a lot of congestion at transshipment ports leading into Kolkata, India.
    • The rail and road movements are also congested and there is a delay in dispatch of the containers. The FCL movement to Nepal can happen via rail or road till the border and then by road till destination.
    • Please get approximately 30 days free time at destination for the movement to and from to Kolkata.
  • Air Situations
    • There is an international airport TIA at Kathmandu.
    • Situation is Normal
    • The following Max Dimensions in inches are acceptable 125 x 88 x 64 (in) & any cargo with higher dimensions will have to move till Kolkata via air and them move from there to Nepal via road.

Pakistan : –

  • Sea Port Situation
    • Situation is Normal
    • No delay at Sea port both for Export and Import.
    • Although its peak season but carriers are accepting goods till cut off.
    • NO Early cut off for Sea
  • Air Situations
    • Most of the Airlines having heavy backlog and accepting booking 3-4 days well in advance.
    • General Cargo is taking + 4 days minimum transit for Europe/US.
    • Most of the Airlines having heavy backlog and accepting booking well in advance with in delayed transit.
